Linguapolis Physical Mini-Exhibition in Four Languages

Since December 16, 2023, a small-scale Linguapolis exhibition has been open to visitors at the House of Languages. The exhibition will be available until the end of 2026 during the venue’s regular opening hours.

In the summer of 2025 (from June 1 to August 31), the exhibition will also be displayed in Norway at the Norwegian Museum of Written Culture in Ørsta.

Presented in four languages—Latgalian, Latvian, Nynorsk, and English—the exhibition features intriguing facts about the Latgalian and Nynorsk languages, as well as quotes from video materials included in the digital exhibition.

It was also available during the Avots language festival in Riga on February 1–2. Additionally, libraries, schools, and other institutions can request a traveling version of the exhibition by contacting info@valodumaja.lv.

Context: In 2021, in cooperation with the Latgalian cultural movement Volūda and the Nynorsk kultursentrum (Norway) the Language Museum Association started to implement the project “Exhibition on Latgalian and Nynorsk: cooperation and experience creating modern digital solutions”, which will result in the virtual exhibition Linguapolis about the Latgalian and Nynorsk in 2023. The implementation of the project is financed by the Fund for Bilateral Relations of the EEA and Norway grants 2014-2021.
